Solar Hot Water
Roof mounted Solar Hot Water systems are highly efficient and use natural thermal convection to circulate Hot Water from the Solar Collectors to the Tank
If you already have a Solar Hot Water system that needs replacing, then all of your plumbing is already up on the roof, so it may be easier and more cost effective overall to replace your existing Solar Hot Water System.
If however, you don’t have a Hot Water system on your roof, then choosing a Heat Pump would be the better option, as there is the added cost to run plumbing and the electric cable for the back up element up to your roof for the Solar Hot Water system.

A Heat Pump is especially suited if you have a Solar PV system and can be programmed to come on when suited so that any excess power generated from your solar system can be used to heat the water.
